Ask a Librarian Training

Come join us and learn about Ask a Librarian, Florida’s virtual reference service. Librarians who will be a part of the service should attend this full day of training and practice. Repeat attendees are always welcome.

Training objectives:

  • Understand how to use Instant Service software and develop a comfort level with the software to provide reference assistance to patrons.
  • Be able to identify the basics of a good virtual reference transaction.
  • Understand the collaborative nature of the service as well as be familiar with digital resources available to assist them.

These objectives are met by incorporating hands-on training with demonstrations and discussion on resources and reference tips.
