Explore multi-sensory approaches to remembrance, outline steps for developing activities and selecting materials, explore using volunteers in a new way, and learn tips for facilitating successful groups. Presenter: Tom Edwards and Kathy Mayo
Tom Edwards – Tom takes monthly reminiscence activities to the residents of senior facilities in the Asheville, North Carolina area. Humor is a hallmark of Tom’s programs and he will share his successful approaches to engaging Seniors in thoughtful discussion.
Kathy Mayo – Kathy is a retired Outreach Manager who now volunteers to coordinate Lee County Library System’s Community Conversations Project. The project trains volunteers to offer literature-based discussion groups with Seniors in assisted living facilities and adult daycare. Kathy is a frequent presenter at workshops for librarians and persons who work with Seniors.
